Aeronautical Engineering is concerned with development, design, production, maintenance and operation of flight vehicles which are subjected to demanding conditions such as those caused by changes in atmospheric pressure and temperature, with structural loads applied upon vehicle components. Consequently, they are usually the products of various technological and engineering disciplines including aerodynamics, propulsion, avionics, materials science, structural analysis and manufacturing. The interaction between these technologies is known as aeronautical engineering. Due to the complexity and number of disciplines involved, aeronautical engineering is carried out by teams of engineers, each having their own specialized area of expertise. Aircraft Engineering is more focused to the practical application of aeronautical science and technology towards greater efficiency and cost effectiveness in areas of aircraft airworthiness and maintenance programme management. The main target functional areas are Organisational Expositions of Aircraft Maintenance Organisations (AMO), Continuing Airworthiness Management (CAMO), Engineering Development, Reliability, Maintenance Production Planning, Workshops (Mechanical and Avionics) Aerospace Materials, Quality Assurance and Engineering Line Outstations. The key subjects are “Release to Service’ Certifications, Certificate of Airworthiness (CoA) issuance and Airworthiness Directives. Typically, this mandates the compliance with the safety requirements of International Civil Aviation Organisations (ICAO) and National Airworthiness Authorities (NAAs).
