Automotive engineering, along with aerospace, railway and marine engineering, is a branch of vehicle engineering, incorporating elements of mechanical, mechatronic, electrical, electronic, software and safety engineering as applied to the design, manufacture and operation of motorcycles, automobiles and trucks and their respective engineering subsystems. Manufacturing domain deals with the creation and assembling the whole automobiles. Automotive engineers also design and test the many subsystems or components that comprise a motorized vehicle. They are also involved in the oversight of maintenance of vehicle fleets. The automotive engineering field is research -intensive and involves direct application of mathematical models and formulae. Automotive engineering entails the design, development, fabrication, and testing vehicles or vehicle components from the concept stage to production stage. Production, development, and manufacturing are the three major functions in this field. Automobile Engineering is mainly divided into three streams such as production or design engineering focuses on design components, testing of parts, coordinating tests, and system of a vehicle.
Railway Engineering started with the advent of the railways in the early nineteenth century, which created the need for a specialized group of engineers capable of dealing with unique problems associated with railway engineering. As the railways expanded and became a major economic force, a great many engineers became involved in the field. Globally, railway systems engineering continues to be a vibrant and exciting field of engineering, the pattern is also quickly replicating in the developing countries. Railway engineering is a multi-faceted engineering discipline dealing with the design, construction and operation of all types of railway systems. It encompasses a wide range of engineering disciplines, including civil engineering, computer engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, industrial engineering and production engineering.
